Greater Pensacola Chamber Encourages Community Prayer and Support for Nursing Home Workers and Residents
The Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce is excited to be hosting a final effort to show in person support for our community. Although we had hoped to have more time to plan for this event, given yesterday’s Stay-at-Home Order issued by Governor DeSantis that is scheduled to go into effect on Thursday at midnight, tonight is our last opportunity. After the efforts to pray over our local hospitals this past Tuesday, Select Specialty Hospital and a few nursing homes reached out to us to be included in another effort. For the nursing homes, their request was to pray over the residents to bring them hope, but there are healthcare workers on the front lines there as well.
So, the request is simple! We have asked our Faith-based Community Response Network and others to choose either Select Specialty Hospital or a nursing home nearest to their campus and challenge their congregation to go and shine a light (and a headlight) right in their own neighborhoods. All social distancing guidelines will be encouraged and enforced by those leading at each location.
Throughout the day, the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce and Cat Country will be asking people on social media where they plan to be so we can track which facilities will be covered.
This will be our last public display of unity and support!
The gatherings will take place at 6:30pm and the prayer will be conducted at 6:45pm. We look forward to “linking arms” with our community and showing support for our frontline healthcare workers and encouragement to our seniors. We know that we will get through this stronger together!
